Loft Re-clad (edited to remove some profanity)

When the exterior cladding for the loft section was clad with timber boards, it wasn’t done correctly. The boards should have been fastened to a timber sub-frame, with fasteners applied through the overlap to the top and bottom of each board, then painted immediately. Unfortunately, fasteners were incorrectly applied to only the center of each board and they were left in primer for ages, resulting in outward buckling.

I recently ordered 33 lineal meters of mini-orb corrugated steel in a zinc-alum finish, hired a cold cut saw from Kennards Hire in Port Macquarie and spent the Easter Long Weekend 2007 replacing the buckled timber. Susan did a great job painting the mini-orb in Wattyl Solagard “Midnight Passion”, a modern dark purple. We battled wind and intermittent rain and I slashed my finger open on a sharp edge (youch that… didn’t really hurt but bled heaps) AND my head lost an argument with the corner eave (ow FUCK!! That HURT), but it’s done. I only wish we had done it properly in the first place.
